The Netherside Gorge - Grass Wood area

Left: second encounter with Silurian eratics (N21) half buried in boulder clay in the river bank along with other glacial boulders and cobbles. They appear to be undergoing exhumation as the main flow of the river encroaches on the bank. June 10, 2012
Right: a large boulder of Silurian origin (G1) lies perched on the limestone bedrock. The sheer size of this example, perhaps with a weight of a ton or more, has preserved it in position leading to rounding by weathering and flood waters over a considerable period of time. June 26, 2012
Left: SiIurian G2: the odd flat-looking rock reported by Edward Whitaker in mid-June stands out in the river bank amongst well-rounded cobbles. This specimen has probably been dislodged from the bank in recent floods. June 24 2012

The White Nook Bridge area
Left: Silurian W13, built into the footings of a dry-stone wall end adjacent to White Nook Bridge, appears to be a dark-grey laminated micaceous siltstone of the Horton Formation September 26, 2012
